Mission Statement
As a future physician, I am first and foremost a patient advocate. Completing an MD/MBA has put me in a position to become a physician leader. To be an effective leader in healthcare requires a deep understanding of clinical practice and the fundamentals of health policy and business. It is the combination of knowledge and experience that will prepare physician-leaders to navigate the tide of change that has begun in healthcare. Now more than ever, the healthcare system needs leaders who have a thorough understanding of patient care in the context of health care organizations. Distinctive from mere facilities, health care organizations form the support network to provide coordinated care based on the most current evidence in medical literature. Providing patient-centered care at both the individual and institutional level is my focus amidst a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and valuable experience.
Vision
As an MD/MBA, I hope to work collaboratively with others that share the aim of piecing together our fragmented healthcare system to form the type of health care organization that is focused on striving towards absolutely the best patient care possible. To achieve this aim, the physician leadership community needs to be strengthened by relationship building and exchange of ideas through organizations such as the Association of MD/MBA Programs and the American College of Healthcare Executives. As a member of these two organizations, I will bring patient advocacy to the forefront of discussions taking place in these circles.
